Lyrics
Scrounging around with our trademark sound,
Can’t you see we’re a loving kind?
Never a word, silently we will serve
With no rest for soul and mind.
Do what we must – our judgement you must trust:
Logic that nothing is above.
I want you for your mind, I want you for your heart:
That’s the essence of clockwork love.

Jumping through time, all in search of a mind,
To a world of love and art.
We have nothing to fear though the Doctor is near:
We could certainly use his parts.
Under the bed, filling children with dread.
We are cunning when push comes to shove.
I want you for your skin, I want you for your eyes:
That’s the essence of clockwork love.

(Long instrumental)

I want you for your skin, I want you for eyes,
I want you for your hair and I want you for your mind;
I want you for your hearts, we haven’t got the parts…

That’s the essence of clockwork… love.

Footnotes
I distinctly remember the moment I thought of writing this song. I was on the bus on my way home and trying to think of good trock ideas. It suddenly hit me that the phrase “I want you for your [blank]” could be either a lovely (if poorly-worded) compliment or a really freaky thing to say. When you combine it with the clockwork droids – enemies who hunt down and dissect you for use as spare parts – it makes for a deliciously creepy song.
